Hiking at GRASSY CREEK!

Explore the beauty of the foothills of North Carolina while you spend time at Grassy Creek Vineyards and Klondike Cabins with a hike along the Grassy Creek Trail. This moderate hike takes you one and a half miles from our vineyard to Byrd’s Branch Campground, through a majestic pine forest, by a small pond and through rolling pastures. From Byrd’s Branch Campground it is an easy walk up to the entrance to Issac’s Trailhead and the Carter Falls Trail, where a short 1/10 of a mile hike opens up to a beautiful view of the wide, rushing Elkin Creek. Or explore the Wells/Chappell Spur that takes you to the Cascade Loop.

Grassy Creek Trail is part of Segment 6 of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail, the wonderful hiking trail that connects North Carolina from Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smokey Mountains to Jockey’s Ridge on the Outer Banks.

Here in the Yadkin Valley, the Elkin Valley Trails Association is hard at work creating a continuous path along the Mountains-to-Sea Trail connecting Pilot Mountain to Stone Mountain. Easily walkable paths take hikers through the woods and along rushing creeks in this scenic region of the foothills.

NC’s first ‘Forest Bathing’ Trail is the newest addition on Grassy Creek property by the Elkin Valley Trails group. “Forest Bathing’ is therapy in nature. Simply walk in the forests and soaking up the atmosphere. The first step is to set aside all technology. Turn off your phone. Take out your ear buds. Then amble down the trail and soak up the sights and sounds that surround you!
